Refreshing and healthy, these frozen mango popsicles are perfect for a summer treat! Use just mango to make these simple one-ingredient popsicles, add strawberries for a little twist. If you love yellow fruit try this mango smoothie or these peach mango popsicles!
I created this recipe because I wanted to see if I could cut out all types of sweeteners and other ingredients in popsicles and make a super healthy popsicle for my kids. Because this recipe only uses fruit it also creates the best popsicle texture! This is a repeat summer treat at my house.

Whether you call this a popsicle, ice pop, ice lolly, or icy pole you are going to love this recipe because:
- It's made with just mango fruit (toddler and baby friendly with no added sweetener!)
- It's super easy to prep, just like my recipe for purple dragon fruit popsicles!
- These popsicles are the perfect hot weather summer treat like my strawberry nicecream!
- The high vitamin C content and no sugar makes these a great treat for a sore throat!

Ingredients needed for sugar-free popsicles
- Mango is the main ingredient and you can make these with 100% just mango; this is why they are a sugar-free popsicle! They are sweetened with just the mango! Choose a bright colored ripe mango, or if they are expensive, you can use frozen mangoes! I often make these with Kent mangoes but I know my sister makes them with Alaulfo mangoes.
- Strawberries (optional but they look so pretty and I love a little chunk of fruit in my popsicles!)
A note about mangoes
After spending two years in nutrition studies at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, I really like to think about what I put into my body and what I feed my kids. That's why I love that these are a sugar-free popsicle recipe made with just real fruit!!
Key nutrition factors: Mangos are high in fiber, vitamin C, antioxidants, and folate.
The darker the orange flesh of the mango the sweeter it will be! The paler yellow or green the mango flesh is, the more sour or unripe it will be!

Instructions for healthy mango popsicles
Follow these step-by-step photos from my kitchen to make your own homemade mango popsicles. See the recipe card below for quantities.
- If your mango is frozen start by defrosting them slightly. Either leave them to melt at room temperature or pour 1 kettle of boiling water over them in the sink to soften them.
2. Place the chunks of peeled mango into the blender container (or food processor), secure the lid, and blend until very smooth. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides.
3. If you are using strawberries add the sliced strawberries to the popsicle mold. With my mold this is when I add the sticks.
4. Evenly distribute the mango puree in the popsicle molds. Place the lip on top and put the popsicles into the freezer for at least 4 hours.
Top tips for frozen mango popsicles
- In the freezer, liquids expand. Leave a tiny space at the top of your popsicle mold for this natural expansion.
- Taste the puree mix before freezing and add honey if you desire sweeter popsicles! Keep in mind that when food freezes, it tastes less intense and less sweet.
- Make popsicles the day before serving for the best fully frozen results.
Optional ways to make healthy mango popsicles
- Other fruit: Instead of strawberries, add other chunks of fruit like more mangoes, blueberries, blackberries, or cherries.
- Creamy mango popsicles: Add coconut milk or yogurt (the higher the fat content, the creamier the popsicles will be! So use cream, Greek yogurt, or premium coconut milk).
- Make it sweeter: Add some honey or maple syrup! Or choose very ripe, bright orange mangos as they are the sweetest!
- Add lemon or lime juice: The citrus will create a bursting flavor.
Equipment
Blender: To make healthy mango popsicles, you will need a blender. You could also use a food processor to make the mango puree smooth.
Popsicle mold: You will need a popsicle mold to make these frozen mango popsicles. I got my popsicle mold from amazon.ca two years ago. I love that it is silicone to easily pop out the frozen ice popsicle. If you don't have a mold see the recipe card notes below on other containers you could use instead with wooden popsicle sticks.
How do I get homemade popsicles out of the mold?
If your popsicles feel stuck, run hot warm over the popsicle mold for 10-20 seconds, wait a minute for the popsicle to soften, and then remove it from the mold. If it doesn't come out do the same thing again! (This is why I think silicone popsicle molds are the best, they just come right out!)
Other sugar free popsicles
I am kinda obsessed with making my kids popsicles in the summer because it's so easy, so healthy, and we all love a fun treat! We LOVE these cherry popsicles covered in yogurt.

Frozen Mango Popsicles (sugar free)
Equipment
- 1 blender
Ingredients
- 4 ½ cups large chunks of frozen mango or 3 ½ cups fresh peeled mango chunks
- 4 strawberries, sliced (optional) (fresh or frozen)
Instructions
- If you are using strawberries and they are frozen strawberries, take them out to thaw now.
- Using frozen mango: Thaw your mango slightly. Either leave mangoes on the counter for an hour and then drain any liquid, OR place the mangoes in a mesh colander in the sink and pour a full kettle of boiling water over the mangoes. Once the mangoes are soft (it's fine if they are frozen and cold in the middle). Then place the mangoes in the blender and blend the mangoes into a smooth purée.
- Using fresh mango: Peel and cut your mangoes into chunks. Purée the mango in a blender until smooth.
- Pour into mold: If using strawberries, place the sliced strawberries into the popsicle mold. (I like to lay them flat to create a pretty look like the photos in the blog post.) Evenly pour the mango puree into the popsicle tray. Add the popsicle sticks if they aren't already in.
- Freeze: Place in the freezer for at least 4-8 hours (depending on your freezer, it may be longer). Serve and eat cold! Enjoy within 4 months.
